Wim Jansen - Mastermind | biography
On 27 October 2021, at the Feyenoord stadium, Wim Jansen presented Mastermind, a book about his life and his football vision. He died three months later at the age of 75 of Alzheimer’s disease.
It was his final wish that this book would also become available for Celtic fans, because the legendary 1997/98 season had been a highlight in his career. The popular manager led The Bhoys to win another league title, preventing rivals Rangers to win a ten-in-a-row, and also arranged for Henrik Larsson to come to Celtic Park. The rest is history.
In Mastermind, Murdo MacLeod, Paul Lambert, Henrik Larsson and of course Wim Jansen himself, look back on the Jansen year. Other football experts, including Robin van Persie, Peter Bosz and Alfred Schreuder, speak passionately about the man with the eyes that would see everything.
‘He only needed ten months to become a
Celtic legend. Thank God for that.’
MURDO MACLEOD
‘He was an absolute genius.’
PAUL LAMBERT
‘If it wasn’t for him, I don’t know what
would have happened with my career.’
