You Not Shoot, We Not Shoot
On Christmas evening 2014 it will be exactly 100 years ago German and English soldiers reconciled for a short moment in and around the trenches of the Salient. Even though they had been shooting each other the day before, and without their superiors being aware, at Christmas 1914 German and English soldiers decided to forget about the madness for a while. In surreal surroundings the dead were buried, cigarettes and chocolates exchanged, Christmas songs were sung and...soccer matches were played. This 'trench match' became the symbol of humanity in an inhuman war and will be commemorated at the end of 2014.
