MUTILATE?/ VERMINKT? Van Beirendonck first achieved international fame as one of the Antwerp six at the end of the eighties. His exhibition Mutilate?/ Vermink? examines the phenomenon of 'fashion' from an ethnic and historical perspective. A journey through the history of clothing reveals the most bizarre, fascinating and striking 'silhouettes', details, accessories and 'embellishments'. Why do people constantly use aids and appliances of one sort or another to modify, transform, mutilate or update their physical appearance? (MuHKA: 26/05/01-28/8/01)nnEMOTIONS/ EMOTIES. The new fashion museum (MoMu) opens with an exhibition about two women, Coco Chanel en Rei Kawakubo (Comme des gar?ons), whose single-mindedness and authenticity determined the course of fashion in the 20th century.
