Krijn De Koning

Krijn De Koning

Since the early 1990s Krijn de Koning has been creating site-specific sculptures--many of them temporary--out of floors, walls and corridors. His pieces are sometimes vividly colored, at other times immaculately white, but they always relate to and are informed by the surrounding space. Examining how the architectonic environment as a material reality influences our mental state, de Koning's work raises important questions about how architecture conditions and contains us. The most ambitious and comprehensive publication on the artist to date, Krijn de Koning examines his work from 1993 to the present. The book includes essays by French artist Daniel Buren, art critic Michel Gauthier and writer Bas Heijne, as well as an interview with the artist.
