Hendrik Petrus Berlage was a prominent Dutch architect. Considered to be the 'father of modern architecture' in The Netherlands, his legacy includes the Amsterdam Commodities Exchange, the Berlage Bridge (Amsterdam), Holland House (London), The Hague Municipal Museum and 'Plan Berlage', his vision for the extension of Amsterdam. He was highly influential, inspiring such cultural and architectural groups as the Traditionalists, the Amsterdam School, De Stijl and the New Objectivis. On the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of his last masterpiece, The Hague Municipal Museum, this book follows different themes of Berlage's personal life, ideas and designs.
