About the architect Poul Kjærholm's (1929-1980) life and work as a furniture designer. With a list of works 1948-1980.
Poul Kjærholm (1929–1980) was a trained cabinetmaker who completed his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, and became one of the icons of Danish furniture design. Using industrial methods and materials, he won international acclaim with his timeless, elegant works. The iconic designer developed his distinctive, minimalist style using steel as a primary material, and combining it with other natural ones such as wood and leather. Written by leading furniture experts and architects, this book covers the different facets of his life and work, with photographs of Kjærholm’s furniture by his friend Keld Helmer-Petersen.
