Erwin Blumenfeld - Erotische Fotografien
Erwin Blumenfeld (1897-1969) achieved worldwide fame as a fashion photographer. He himself considered his nude photographs the best and most important works. As a man, he was fascinated by, not to say obsessed with, the female body, and he confessed, "I loved all women, not just one ... I was born an erotic man." He transformed his gaze on the straightness of the gently curving female forms into photographic images. The works shown here, highlights of his art, have been selected by his son Yorick, who also wrote the text, which is as informative as it is revealing. The pictures are from the great career of the artist from the thirties in Amsterdam to New York in the fifties. Blumenfeld's nudes - the natural, those inspired by the visual arts, the surrealistic and the erotic - have a unique charisma, and they are not just a discovery for the untold admirers of his brilliant fashion photography.
