Jaume Plensa
Save our souls, Like Antony Gormley, Catalan artist Jaume Plensa's perennial motif is his own body. 'Save our Souls' features seven such body casts, each seated on an island of earth, arms hugging knees, with a tree between their legs sheltering their contemplative pose. The bronze figures have been cast with the names of composers from Bartok to Wagner, presenting a paean to artistic genius, creativity and insular contemplation that in turn gives seed to new ideas – ideas that take root in the fertile soil of human imagination. Alongside full page colour photographs, black and white sketches and prints, the catalogue also features text extracts from C.G. Jung, Richard Dey and the Bible.
