Schwalm Embroidery
Schwalm embroidery is a form of late-18th to 19th century whitework embroidery which incorporates surface stitches, pulled fabric, drawn thread, needle lace and needleweaving. It was traditionally embroidered on blouses, shirts, stockings, pillowcases, top sheets and towels. Traditional elements are based on the tree of life . These include hearts, tulips, the sun, pine cones, flowers, fruits, leaves, tendrils and the pigeon or dove. This book contains a number of projects accompanied by step-by-step drawings that should help to clarify the instructions.
