Traditional Dutch Ganseys for Children
Over 40 adaptable sweaters to knit for your little ones, based on the classic, minimal and quietly-stunning jumpers of Dutch fishermen.
Knit over 40 wonderful children’s sweaters, inspired by traditional designs.
Intrigued by the many children she saw in the old photographs of fishing boat crews, Stella Ruhe has made it her mission to delve into the history and lives (and sweaters!) of the young habitants of the Dutch fishing communities. Beginning with a short history of the dramatic lives of the Dutch children who lived in these communities, the book contains patterns for over 40 sweaters inspired by the ganseys they wore.
The sweaters inside range from ages 1 to 14 years, though each pattern can easily be adjusted. Every gansey is accompanied by a diagram of the finished sweater, along with a chart detailing the key repeated textures and stitches used. Made in modern yarns, this is neo-classic knitwear that will look great and fit wonderfully on any child.
