For more than120 years its architectural grace and sensual vitality have been expressed in every kind of attitude, in every kind of setting, and with every possible photographic motive from lust to veneration.
THE NUDE IN PHOTOGRAPHY portrays these attitudes, settings and motives as they have evolved since the 1850s, when the photographer Durieu posed some of the earliest nudes in history under the direction of the artist Delacroix in Paris. Including chapters:
