The Yoga of Sailing
The Yoga of Sailing is the first book in the Anchors in An Open Sea trilogy, based on Dyana’s true experiences of thirty years of sailing adventures through the Pacific Ocean, and retreats and sojourns that include Canada, Thailand, China and, of course, beautiful New Zealand.
You join the four crew on their first serious voyage through gale-force winds and treacherous coral reefs, on a 35ft ketch. They experience the delight of sailing even when it’s carried into the risky episodes of navigating around the coral lagoons of the major islands in the Pacific. Alice, her father and her children sail, cycle and backpack around Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia. You follow them from exhilaration to exhaustion!
The trilogy is also an intimate look at three generations in one family through the eyes of a mother and her three children, and brings a unique perspective on romantic relationships, mid-life questioning, and the many roles of elders in a family.
Alice’s relationship with her father revolves around their conflicting spiritual views. On land and ocean, from Buddhist retreats to onboard romance, Alice navigates a life of rich contrasts and at time tumultuous passions.
Dyana has a BSc majoring in Botany and Zoology, MA (Hons) in Philosophy, MCW (Hons) in Creative Writing, Dip Yoga Therapy, and a Cert Counselling.
