A World of Winnie the Pooh
The first stories about Winnie- the-Pooh, the Bear of Very Little Brain, were published over seventy years ago, in 1926. The stories by A. A. Milne, with illustrations by E. H. Shepard, have been so popular with generations of children and adults that Pooh has become one of the most famous bears in the world. The stories about Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood have been translated into over thirty-one different languages, making Pooh an international celebrity.
A World of Pooh brings together a specially selected collection of stories from Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner and some of the most popular verse from A. A. Milne's collections for children, When We Were Veiy Young and Now We Are Six. Here we are introduced to Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo,
Owl and Christopher Robin.
Pooh's world is reflected in Milne's nursery verse where Pooh and Christopher Robin are forever playing.
The characters in the stories are based upon the real nursery toys which belonged to A. A. Milne's son, Christopher Robin and their adventures are set in the Ashdown Forest where the family lived. The artist E. H. Shepard lovingly drew the Forest and the toys. The places he drew can still be seen today.
