The Genius of Lothar Meggendorfer (pop-up book)

The Genius of Lothar Meggendorfer (pop-up book)

A MOVABLE TOY BOOK. Pull-out the moving parts of this book. With an appreciation by Maurice Sendak. Published by Jonathan Cape Ltd, 1985.

With reproductions of some of his finest animated, comic creations - all taken from works published before the turn of the century.

Known and loved for his humorous art and witty verse, Meggendorfer was considered the greatest innovator and designer off movable books.

Filled with examples of his imaginative characters, situations and complex actions, this unique edition gives an inside look at how his paper mechanics worked, revealing various levers attached with tiny rivets (all hidden between the pages) that allowed five and six movements by pulling a single tab.

Entertainment was his goal - and The Genius of Lothar Meggendorfer is not onlu a nostalgic salute to his creative spirit, but an exciting selection of his showmanship to delight children and grown-ups everywhere.
