Bergamo Travel Highlights

Bergamo is an historic northern Italian city in the region of Lombardy. It is 60km to the northeast of Milan. The historic heart of the city is renowed for its Renaissance architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city was built on top of ancient Celtic-Roman walls. Its splendid square has undergone several transformations over the years, but two striking features have remained intact: the 13th-century Torre della Fame (Tower of Hunger) and the 14th-century Palazzo del Podestá (which now houses the contemporarily designed Pinacoteca di Brera).

Including Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Piazza Vecchia, Torre del Gombito, Fortress of Bergamo, Colleoni Chapel, Church of Sant'Agata nel Carmine, Bergamo Cathedral, Fontana del Delfino, San Michele al Pozzo Bianco, Mura Venete, Palazzo della Ragione, Donizetti Theatre, Porta San Giacomo, Accademia Carrara Art Gallery, Fontana del Lantro, Convent of San Francesco, Convento e Chiostro delle Suore Benedettine, Orto Botanico di Bergamo 'Lorenzo Rota', Palazzo Nuovo, Templetto Santa Croce Church, Fontana Contarini, Castello di San Vigilio, Rocca, Campanone Bell, Citta Alta/Old Town Viewpoint and many more sightseeing highlights of Bergamo.
