To the Lighthouse
The serene and maternal Mrs. Ramsay, the tragic but absurd Mr. Ramsay, and their children and diverse visitors are on holiday on the Isle of Skye. From the seemingly trivial postponement of a visit to a close-by lighthouse, Woolf constructs an outstanding, moving exam of the complicated tensions and allegiances of family existence and the war between women and men. As time winds its manner through their lives, the Ramsays face, alone and concurrently, the finest of human challenges and its greatest triumph—the human potential for trade.
